Detroit Phoenix Center is a nonprofit organization that responds to the needs of underserved and street-connected youth in Detroit. They support young people, ages 13-24, through direct services including a daily drop-in center for young adults, afterschool enrichment programs for teens, youth action board, emergency crisis housing, and a scholarship fund. Detroit Phoenix Center also works diligently for systemic change and contributes to the growing movement to end youth homelessness.

Fundraising
Eden Creative Group partnered with Detroit Phoenix Center to develop and execute its inaugural One Night Without A Bed fundraiser and awareness campaign.
The premise of the end of the year virtual fundraiser was to not only raise funds for Detroit Phoenix Center but to also raise awareness for the cause of youth homelessness by challenging people to "Sleep Out" and spend one night sleeping somewhere other than a bed. This experience was not to emulate homelessness but to participate in the challenge in solidarity with youth working to rise out of homelessness and poverty.

The Virtual Event & Messaging
Youth, parent, and staff testimonials were critical to the success of fundraising. These testimonials were impactful, intimate, and at some points uncomfortable to hear. It was important to us that we didn't cross the very delicate line of exploitation when asking them to participate and share their stories.
Eden Creative Group facilitated the testimonial interviews and video production for event use as well as continued marketing and fundraising efforts.

Impact Report
Developing Detroit Phoenix Center's Impact Report provided an opportunity to translate a year of organizational initiatives, programming, and community impact into a cohesive strategic communications document. The project involved gathering and synthesizing information from across the organization, aligning messaging with key priorities, and creating a report that highlighted program outcomes, organizational growth, future objectives, and the ongoing needs of the youth and families served by Detroit Phoenix Center. The final report served as both a stakeholder communication tool and a reflection of the organization's long-term vision and strategic goals.

Branding & Messaging
As part of a broader communications and brand alignment initiative, Eden Creative Group partnered with Detroit Phoenix Center to strengthen organizational messaging.
One important factor in this for Detroit Phoenix Center was leaning into Asset Framing. When your goal is to help better the lives of others, the first thing that has to change is the way you speak about their situation. Being homeless isn't a personality trait; it is a temporary and changeable point in a person's life. So when you change the way you speak about those struggling from calling them "homeless youth" to "youth rising out of homelessness" it makes a difference.
The hope that Asset Framing instills in not only those that you're speaking about but also those looking to donate their time or money to assist them is profoundly valuable.

Community Outreach
Detroit Phoenix Center's annual Holiday Giveaway relies on strong community partnerships, stakeholder coordination, and event planning to deliver resources, meals, and holiday gifts to the families it serves. The initiative demonstrates how strategic collaboration can expand organizational impact and strengthen community engagement.
The 2020 Holiday Gift Away was held outside as a drive-up event due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Detroit Pheonix Center partnered with Footlocker to host the event at their community store on Eight Mile where rapper Trick Trick handed out presents and took pictures with families.
